Everyone else will say this story is good. They're probably right.
I didn't like NGE, and I didn't like Genocide. The pacing felt incredibly slow for what happened; the prose was fine at best, and reminiscent of bad lemons at worst; the plot was about as dependent on introducing new MacGuffin's; SEELE doesn't even warrant a mention for the middle 13 chapters, leaving us with blatantly evil OC villains; Shinji and Asuka's relationship is... actually fine. I don't like most Asushin, but 'eh'; and the epilogue is depressing as all hell, despite having read an entire Discord conversation defending it and explaining it as being positive.
Highlights include the OCs on NERV's side, and the fact that it's A: finished, and B: has passable prose, making it better than somewhere between 90 and 99% of all fanfics.
So the takeaway is that if you liked NGE, chances are good you'll like Genocide.
FanficRecs Not appealing—to me, at least.
